Skype

Last week was the first time I have used Skype. For those who don't know, Skype is a computer software that allows users who have Skype installed talk to each other over the Internet. I have used this before, but using MSN. Recently I had nothing but problems with MSN and I am not talking just about the talking over Internet feature, but access, Hotmail, you name it. So, partly out of frustration and partly out of curiosity as of what is all the hubhub about I tried it. To say the least I was very pleasantly suprised. The Skype website, just like the software has very clean interface and is very easy to use. And the sound quality during a conversation is nothing comparable to MSN. During MSN conversation I can hear my echo in the speakers few seconds later, with Skype I didn't have this problem. When my mom used it she had problems, but she is a technical hadicap so I would count that for much. I will have to go and see what she is doing wrong. All in all Skype is a great product for a great price (free) and if you haven't tried it, you should.

Fishing

Today is my registration day for the summer semester and I have not even paid my registration deposit yet. Why, you ask. Well, about two weeks ago I called my fishing buddy Jeff to inquire if they will be taking me out fishing this year. To say the least he wasn't home, and so I left a message with his girlfriend to get back to me as soon as possible; I really needed to know as the registration date was getting closer and closer. Few days later, he got back to me leaving a message on the answering maching saying something like: "Mario you bastard, you got a job with us this summer." Well, at least I know it was Jeff, I don't think anybody else would leave a messge like that. This was a big news for me as it would determine where I would spend this summer, in school or on the boat. I guess on the boat it is. I am glad it worked out this way because if I would go to school I would only have two courses to take. It wouldn't been a very productive summer.

Breaking Even or TAXES II

My previous frustration with the prepation of my income tax return has led to some pleasant suprise. I found out that the fishing company owes me money. I still will have to pay this year, that doesn't change, but now I will at least have some money send to me that I can use to pay the government. So, all in all I am breaking even. It makes me wonder though, would the fishing company send me the cheque if I woudn't ask for it?

TAXES

Well, next month is the deadline for filing taxes, and for the first time ever I think I will have to pay. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, I went over it numerous times, but I still owe money. When I filed my regular work just by itself I was receiving more than one tousand dollar refund, but after I added the fishing I was owing money. That means if I would have just filed just the fishing by itself I would be more than tousand dollar in the hole. I understand that my fishing checks didn't deduct any income tax or CPP, but could it really be that much.
My idea of ideal job as a pot grower is even more strengthened, not only you make very good money, you don't have to pay income tax either. :P
